The CM of Gujarat Sri Vijaybhai Rupani had, at 6.45 am on Sunday, the 5th February 2017, flagged off 6th Vadodara International Marathon in which, nearly 40,000 gents, ladies and youths had participated. In this marathon organized by Vadodara Marathon Group for the propaganda of “Digital India through Cashless India” campaign, nearly 70 sisters from Yogi Mahila Kendra had also participated/supported.
Vadodara Marathon Group regularly organizes successfully since last 5 years half marathon and other runs like 21 km, 10 km, 21 km half marathon relay, 5 km cleanness run and special runs for handicapped ones also. This year, it had organized first time, the full marathon race of 42 km.
India’s PM Sri Narendrabhai Modi started Digital India movement and, with the help of communication revolution, he initiated for Cashless India. When he has tried to bring transparency in monetary transactions by introducing demonetization and various methods of digital transactions, Yogi Mahila Kendra also had, on 23rd December, started/adopted cashless transactions under digital India campaign. To participate in the propaganda of this movement, institution’s lady volunteers, sisters and girls had participated in 5 km marathon to spread the message of Cashless India and Clean India in the public.
Along with giving the message of proper care of health through this run organized in Vadodara city, also to spread the messages of “Digital India” and “Clean India”, the leaders from various political and social fields like the CM of Guj. Sri Vijaybhai Rupani, sports Min. Sri Vijaybhai Goyal, Smt. Ranjanben Bhatt, Sri Bharatbhai Dangar (Mayor, Vadodara), P. Dwarkeshlalji (Vaishnavacharya), P. Vrijeshkumarji (Vaishnavacharya), Sri M (runner), Sri Saurabh Patel, Sri Yogeshbhai Patel, Sri Bhupendrabhai Lakhavala, Sri N.V. Patel, Smt. Jigishaben Sheth, Sri Chandrakant Srivastava, Sri Jitendrabhai Sukhadiya, Sri Rajendrabhai Trivedi and Smt. Manishaben and the cricketers like Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan who brought name and fame to Gujarat on national and international level also remained present on this occasion to boost the spirit and tempo of participants.
At the end of the run, the winners were honoured with suitable prizes. The chairperson of the event Tejalben Amin and her associates had worked hard day and night to make the event a grand success.
