Healthy Diet - 2016, Asoj

In the ladies and in young children, the problem of insufficient nourishment and deficiency of hemoglobin is generally found in most parts of the villages in India. If these ladies are educated and if they understand the basic principles of science of diet, most of their problems regarding insufficiently nourishing foods can be solved and, with this view in mind, a seminar on “Healthy Diets” was organized in Vinay Vidya Mandir at Asoj by Yogi Mahila Kendra, Haridham, Sokhada on Sunday, the 25th Dec 2016 in the presence of regional sadhvi sisters of Atmiya Pradesh P. Smitalben and P. Sulabhben in which, around 175 ladies from the surrounding villages had participated and had taken advantage of the same.

Although, Smt. Pujaben, a dietician, who came from Germany, since knows Gujarati language very well being associated with the sadhvi sisters and volunteers of Yogi Mahila Kendra since last many years, addressed the participating ladies in Gujarati on “Healthy Diet” by explaining that, it is not a food which is nicely/beautifully and decoratively served, but it is the one from which, we get sufficient nourishment and, it is easily available around us but, we simply ignore it. The sprouted beans, variety of green leafy vegetables, different fruits available as per seasons, dates, ground nut, gram, molasses etc. provide enough proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals to our body.

Explaining the real system of food, she said that, according to our hunger, we should take 50 % food and that also we must chew very nicely, 25 % should be whey, soup, dal etc. while 25 % should be left empty for air and, if we take our meals like this, we can maintain our health good.

In the end of the program, P. Smitlben advised all the participating ladies to adopt and follow the above food system in their daily life.

In this seminar, the participating ladies had learnt to keep/maintain good health for themselves as well as for their family members too, by simply making minor changes in their daily diets and, they all had, whole heartedly appreciated this quite a new experimental program and thanked Yogi Mahila Kendra and Smt. Pujaben for arranging it and had also requested to repeat such programs again and again.
