World AIDS Day - 2016, Avidha
Yogi Mahila Kendra, Haridham, Sokhada had, on account of “World AIDS Day”, the 1st Dec, organized a seminar in Vijay Vidya Mandir, Avidha on Wednesday, the 14th Dec 2016 in which, around 70 ladies from surrounding areas had participated who were provided detailed information about AIDS in this seminar by Smt. Bhavnaben K. Patel, associated with Yogi Mahila Kendra, with the help of a presentation.
World Health Organization celebrates 1st December as the “World AIDS Day” in the entire world. Most of the people in Avidha and its surrounding areas are adivasis and, the level of education and awareness about health is also found to be low among them. Because of their passion, superstitions and addictions, the infectious diseases are also seen more here. Keeping this fact in mind, to bring awareness about health in the ladies here so that they can alert/awake their gents also, Yogi Mahila Kendra had organized this shibir here in this area.
The lady Smt. Bhavnaben K. Patel informed ladies present in the shibir as to how do we get infected for H.I.V. and that, as a result of it, our power to fight against other diseases gradually goes on reducing resulting in our inability to fight against other diseases bringing death for us. After entering our body, the H.I.V. virus remains in a silent/sleeping position there for a period of 6 months to 6 to 12 years which is called the window period and it is the most dangerous period for the spread of AIDS as, even the patient, the infected person himself, can’t know that he is infected by AIDS and hence, he can also infect the other persons too and alerted to be cautious by quoting a slogan, “Alertness only is the safety”. While welcoming and highly appreciating these efforts by Yogi Mahila Kendra, the participating ladies accepted that, till today, they never received such knowledge/information from anywhere due to which, many of them had been victims of AIDS and resolved to spread the same in the society for other ladies.
